DVR Examiner FAQs

Why does DVR RECords want to sign in with Google?
The application requires a Google account to use and there are a couple of reasons why. DVR RECords uses Google Cloud / API services and this allows us to link your content such as reports, worksheets and case info to your Google account so that you can access it. By signing in with Google we know that you are a real person, and not a robot. No, we don’t spy on you, and no we don’t sell your information to third parties. In short, all we want is to confirm your identity and allow you to access your content, and that is all there is to it.
Will DVR RECords support signing in with Apple ID, Facebook, or its own authentication service?
We’ll continue to evaluate this, but for the time being and as mentioned above the application specifically uses Google services to provide you with access to your content, and it only makes logical sense to sign in with Google. We feel that the less places your information is in the better. And it would be a poor practice for us to authenticate you with another service to pass it on to Google when it is not necessary, even if it was our own service.
Did you just say you store app content in the cloud, is that secure?

Yes, we use Google Firebase as a cloud service provider to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of your information. Google Firebase meets the ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Standard. See the certificate here. Learn more about Information Security here.

Why does DVR RECords want to use my camera?

When using the “Snap DVR Time” method for time calibrations DVR RECords needs your permission to use your device camera. The intention is to snap a photo of a live timestamp on a DVR and DVR RECords will place a timestamp on the top of the image with a UTC timestamp. You will then have a snapshot in time of the DVR Time and the Actual Time. This makes for great evidence and the photo is not saved to our device. It will only be accessible in the app and on documents that you generate within the application. If you decline the application use of your camera, and you later decide you want to use the “Snap DVR Time” method you will have to go to your device settings for your smartphone and enable access to the camera manually. You can also uninstall / reinstall the application. Don’t worry since the application stores content in the cloud you will not lose you your worksheets and other content by uninstalling.

Does DVR RECords save content to my device?
No, the application doesn’t store any content on your device, not even photos taken within the application. This is another reason why we opted for using the cloud.
Why does DVR RECords want to know my location?
The application does not use the device time for calibrations, it uses Google services to get UTC time based on your time zone. In order to get your time zone, we need to know your location. If you choose to use the “Snap DVR Time” method for time calibration we will store geo coordinates of the location in a database to provide Law Enforcement only all locations known to have CCTV in their area.
Who do I contact for application support?

You can send an email to support@demux.co.uk and we will field your support request as soon as possible.

My PDF Report isn’t formatted correctly; can I edit it to make minor adjustments?

More than likely if you are experiencing a report or worksheet that has formatting errors it is due to not using the “Snap DVR Time” option as the report and worksheet will be missing the image. We are currently working to resolve this. However, it and other adjustments you may need to correct can be carried out by editing the pdf that DVR RECords sent to your inbox. We have found that Adobe Acrobat works best for editing pdfs and/or converting to Microsoft Word documents, but you can try to use a tool of your choice. Please note that converting the document could create further formatting problems especially when converting with certain versions of Microsoft Word. As previously stated, Adobe Acrobat does convert to the Microsoft Word format quite well. We also found this free pdf converter online that works nicely, but we’ll leave it up to you on what you decide to use should you need to make adjustments to reports.

Does DVR RECords work offline?
No, the application requires a network or wireless connection to access saved content.
