Course Modules
Module 1: Course introduction
- Learning objectives will be presented along with expected outcomes over the course’s three days.
- Hands-on exercises will allow students to set up Magnet Griffeye: Advanced.
Module 2: Case processing with the Lace Carver
- In this module, students will learn how to use the Lace Carver tool to recover extra data during case processing.
- Students will also be taught how to create a personalized workflow checklist to better organize examinations.
- The module includes a review of categorization and intelligence markers, as well as an introduction to the well-being options
Module 3: Filtering and inaccessible files
- Through instructor-led exercises, students will learn how to make the most of the filtering and bookmarking feature in efforts to work more efficiently and focus on the most relevant files using the ‘work smart filter’.
- Students will also learn the distinction between ‘accessible’ and ‘inaccessible’ files, and how to adjust these file locations based on the device being used.
- Additionally, students will gain knowledge on applying keywords and uploading custom dictionary files.
Module 4: Searching
- In this module, students will learn how to use Griffeye Advanced for various types of searches based on case objectives.
- Students will learn how to search for similar faces, locate specific reference files, apply hash searches to match case intelligence, search for motion within video files, and differentiate between total files located and binary unique files.
- The module aims to provide effective training on using Griffeye to help students become proficient in their search
Module 5: Utilizing apps and plugins
- In this module, students will learn how to utilize the Magnet Griffeye: Advanced features such as Apps and Plugins, each with their ability to help progress an investigation such as identifying faces and motion with files.
- They will also discover how to run additional apps such as Social Media Identifiers and Reverse Geolocation data which can be used to view files on an interactive map which can be used to filter by location.
- The module will cover how to use the built-in AI engine ‘Brain’ along with extended AI classifiers such as ‘Thorn’ to enhance the identification of child sexual abuse material.
Module 6: Reporting and updating the local GID
- The final course module will teach the various export types to students such as CSV and NCMEC, students will also learn the reporting method available to professionally produce their findings.
- Finally, the students will learn how to update their local Griffeye Intelligence Databases ensuring newly categorized files will be located in the future.
